BTCCSquare news:

OpenAI has hired Peter Steinberger, the creator of open-source AI agent framework OpenClaw, signaling a strategic push into autonomous task-handling systems. The MOVE comes as AI agents gain traction for practical applications like email management and travel coordination.

Steinberger declined acquisition offers from both OpenAI and Meta before opting to join OpenAI's research team. His OpenClaw project will transition to an independent foundation while maintaining its open-source MIT license—a rare preservation of independence amid industry consolidation.

The recruitment coincides with Moonshot AI's launch of Kimi Claw, a browser-based derivative of OpenClaw's architecture. Since its November 2025 debut, OpenClaw has amassed 180,000 GitHub stars, reflecting strong developer interest in agent-based automation.
